BLURB:
The lives
of six orphans lie on the shoulders of a nurse and a wounded Special Ops
soldier. . .
After losing her husband and unborn child in a car accident, Victoria Lafferty has devoted her life to helping South American children find homes in the US, but her plans are thrown into chaos by a rebellion in the country.
When his mission is compromised and he is shot and captured, Major John Dawson is kept alive so the rebel leader can “take care” of John himself for killing his brother.
Together Victory and John face the hostile jungle and the rebel leader, but will deep-seated guilt and a desire for revenge stand in the way of their life together?

Excerpt:
For a long moment, John thought he would have to be more
persuasive, but the guard nodded and opened the door.
Victoria sat up front with her back to the door. Several
other ladies and one man sat across the aisle from her. The judge looked up as
the John hobbled into the room. Victoria turned as the door shut behind him.
If he had any doubts about why he’d come to Houston, they
completely vanished when he saw her. Shock washed across her face. He could
tell she’d been crying, and he knew he’d made the right decision by coming.
The judge took off his glasses. “Is there a reason for you
to be in this room?”
“Yes sir. May I speak with you? It’s about the children.”
“Come forward.”
Victoria turned around to the judge and said something that
he couldn’t hear, but the judge nodded.
John clunked across the floor toward the judge’s desk.
Damned crutches. He wanted to look like a man in control of the situation, not
some hardship case.
Victoria stared at him. He smiled at her as he made his way
a few steps away from the desk, but he couldn’t tell how she felt about his
being here.
John looked up. “Sir, my name is . . .”
“I know who you are.”
