Excerpts
Introduction
To
the Kids:
Hello
Kids! My name is Dr. Donna. I am psychologist who loves the Lord! It
took me many years to learn that God has all the answers. Now I want
to share some of those answers with you and your parents.
To
the Parents:
It’s
often assumed wisdom comes with old age. But this isn’t always
true. So how can we understand what wisdom is and where to get it?
That’s where this book comes in. I will share with you the biblical
perspective about wisdom based on the book Proverbs, an Old Testament
book of simple sayings and short parables (stories). Let’s begin
with Proverbs 30:5 (ERV), which states: “You
can trust this: Every word that God speaks is true. God is a safe
place for those who go to him.”
This verse reminds us that God’s word is the ultimate resource.
Every question, every problem, and every need can be answered by
turning to God – and that is the essence of what it means to be
wise!
Each
new chapter of this book will tackle different aspects of life. For
each new topic, biblical verses and everyday applications will be
provided for the adults, as well as the children. May you use this
book to plant the seeds of wisdom within your children, and may it
feed and nurture your own soul about God’s intention to make us
wise and fruitful throughout our earthly days.
Biblical
Verses About Teaching Wisdom to Children:
Proverbs
8:17 - I
love those who love me, and those who look for me will find me.
Proverbs
13:22 - It
is good to have something to pass down to your grandchildren. But
wealth hidden away by sinners will be given to those who live right.
Proverbs
23:24-25 - The
father of a good person is very happy. A wise child brings him
joy. Make both of your parents happy. Give your mother that same
joy.
